Southwold (Sole Bay) Lions Club was formed in 1974 and since then we have been raising funds that are used to support mostly local and some international causes. We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, a status conferred by the Charity Commission, and we aim to support a wide variety of individuals and good causes using the funds raised from our activities such as our Fête, and Music on the Green.
Over the years there have been many examples of causes that we have helped – individuals, local organisations such as schools and groups, and organisations that serve the community such as the Air Ambulance, the RNLI, and the Blood Bikes scheme. We have also donated, through Lions International Foundation, to disaster relief, and with other local Lions clubs, we joined Lowestoft Lions in donating specialist equipment costing £10,000 to James Paget Hospital during COVID.
Our members are all local people – ordinary people like you who, whilst being part of our local community, want an opportunity to make a difference by putting something back into society. We always like to hear from people who might consider joining us, and we are looking for new members right now – do contact us, we would be pleased to tell you more. There are no special conditions for membership and you don’t have to live in Southwold – just have a desire to make our community a bit better.
We raise donations and help locals in the Southwold and Reydon area.
